Private wells predominate in outlying areas.
Sewer
Public sewer service is available in the Borough of Newtown, Sandy Hook Center, limited areas along South Main Street, in Hawleyville along Route 6 and at the Fairfield Hills Campus. The Newtown Water Sewer Authority manages these service areas.
